About Us

The Forrester Woods Swim Team (FWST Waverunners) has been developing swimmers every summer for over 40 years. FWST is one of 30+ teams to participate in the Greenville County SAIL Swim League.

The summer season runs 10 weeks, from early-May to mid-July. There are daily practices and weekly swim meets on Thursday evenings. Swimmers may participate in all or some of the meets. In addition to practices and meets, we also host many social events. Waverunners train very hard, but FWST is mostly about the fun of swimming and being a part of an enthusiastic team.

Our wonderful coaches train swimmers on correct stroke technique in all four strokes, swimming skills like dives and turns, and improving endurance. The coaches also emphasize the value of good sportsmanship and team spirit - all in a fun and family friendly environment.

FWST is a completely volunteer run organization, made possible through the generosity of our swimmer parents. It is an amazing organization that has not only helped so many learn the lifelong skill of swimming, but has also created many friendships throughout our fantastic neighborhoods, not just for the children but for the parents too.

Residents & non-resident members must be in good standing with the HOA to register and must agree to volunteer requirements to participate on the team. Space is limited. Swimmers must be able to swim the length of the pool unassisted to participate. Our guppy team is available for those swimmers who need assistance in the pool.

And as always… Go Waverunners!

Waverunner Team Requirements

The Waverunner Team will develop swimmers understanding of all four strokes, work on endurance racing skills and techniques. In order to begin on the team, a swimmer must be able to swim freestyle with face in the water for the length of the pool, without touching the bottom, sides, or lane ropes. Assessments will be held during the first week of practice for new 10 and under swimmers to get acclimated to being back in the pool, but this 'test' for big team must be completed to the coach's satisfaction within the first week. If a swimmer does not meet these requirements, it is in the swimmers best interest to participate on Guppy Team for the season. If a refund is preferred in lieu of joining the Guppy Team, the refund will be in full, less the required insurance fee. Swimmers ages 10 and older will be evaluated by the coaching staff the first week of practice, if a swimmer is unable to safely and adequately swim at the level of his or her age group, the swimmer will be removed from the team for the season and a refund will be given, less the required for SAIL insurance fee.

**Any new swimmer under 10 years old will need to attend at least one assessment day at beginning of season**

Guppy Team Requirements

The Guppy Team develops the swimmers to advance to the Waverunner Team. Guppies will be taught basic strokes, but this is not intended to replace swimming lessons. A guppy should be fully potty trained and able to jump into the water voluntarily, put their face in the water, and make forward progress for at least 20 feet (half of the short width of the pool). No floaties or swimmies allowed. We will allow a couple of days for guppies to get acclimated back in the pool, but this guppy 'test' must be completed within the first 3 days. If the guppy does not meet the requirement or you choose not to move forward on the Guppy Team, a refund will be issued in the first 3 days, in lieu of the required SAIL insurance fee.

Guppy Team swim season runs during the month of June.

A parent or guardian must stay with their guppy during practice and meets, no exceptions. Guppy team is not required to buy a team suit.
